Appliqué & Stitching Options

This pattern is designed to give you total creative freedom. Choose the method that best fits your style:

• Raw-Edge or Fusible Appliqué: The patterns are drawn at actual size—perfect for tracing directly onto fusible web.
• Needle-Turn Appliqué: If you prefer traditional needle-turn, simply add your own seam allowance around the shapes when cutting.
• Wool Appliqué: The clean silhouette shapes translate seamlessly to wool fabric and heavier thread work.
• Hand Embroidery: Skip the fabric layering altogether! Trace each section design directly onto muslin or background fabric as a line-art guide for hand stitching.

In addition, choose your background fabric style: patchwork or solid.

Materials & Preparation

• Finished Size: 60″ x 72″
• Applique Block Sizes:
  • 12 (6″ x 6″) blocks
  • 6 (6″ x 12″) blocks
  • 13 (12″ x 12″) blocks
• Fabric / Thread Requirements:
  • 1/2y for border
  • 4 1/2y background fabric. Or a selection of neutrals for a patchwork background.
  • 12 fat quarters or scraps
  • 3/4 y Binding
  • 6y quilt backing
• Recommended Tools:
  • Fusible web / Interfacing
  • Marking pens / Tracing tools
  • Light box or window
  • Fabric scissors / Rotary cutter
  • Matching threads for finishing applique edges
