Reflections Blog hop-Satellite quilt
Welcome to my stop in the Reflections Blog Hop, be sure to visit all participants for inspiration, and a few giveaways including the host. Reflections is a new Island Batik collection designed by Jennifer Fulton of The Inquiring Quilter.
Those greens, how did I not throw some green in there!
Thank you Jennifer for the opportunity to work with such rich, vibrant fabrics, they are more beautiful in person. Often times images you see on your computer screen do not reflect the true colors of fabric. Indoor lighting and even monitors change its appearance, here’s an example. This holds true with Reflections.
The purple and prints play so well together. Even the light blue (must have been a mistake when selecting my fabrics) seems right at home in the border. Here are the fabrics I chose for my quilt (background fabric Whip Cream):
Aren’t they lovely? Reflections is a collection of 20 different fabrics with multiple pairing options for a gorgeous quilt. If you make Satellite you could easily choose just 3 of these fabrics plus a background, one for the large squares, one for the little squares, and one for triangles.
Satellite Quilt
For my quilt I chose a quick and easy design that can be paper pieced or rotary cut for traditional patchwork. The pattern is called Satellite and I hope you enjoy it.
The blocks are quick to piece for patchwork, or by paper piecing method. See pattern description below.
Quilting
For quilting my go to batting is, Heirloom® Premium Cotton Batting. Using my hand guided longarm I chose to add swirls, flowers and straight line quilting for a finish.
I know, I know, my straight lines aren’t so straight but with this fabric who is going to be looking at my quilting?
Finish
Windless days are few and far between when you live in a rural area. I apologize that you cannot see a flat image as we have had strong winds and/or storms for a little over two weeks, they followed mostly rain every day. Look at those gorgeous colors, they make me smile.
Pattern
My giveaway is the pattern I call Satellite. Inside the pattern you will find FPP templates for 16″ and 18″ blocks. The pattern was written for 16″ blocks so be sure to purchase additional fabric for 18″ blocks. For those who like colored templates, they’re in there. If you are a colored ink saver, you will find black and white templates too.
Inside the pattern you will also find instructions for rotary cutting if you prefer traditional patchwork.

Oh my goodness! Your quilt is lovely and it shows off the Reflections fabrics so well! Thank you so much for participating in the blog hop for my new collection. I simply love this! And your quilting is superb.
Awe thank you so much. I appreciate the invite.
I love that you have an 18″ block option. It is a pattern with a lot of movement; I found my eyes going left/right/left! Love it and your quilting is perfect.
Thank you, hope you grabbed the free download.
Fabulous quilt! I love the satellite idea – I really can see it in the blocks. So creative!
Thank you Kathleen.
Beautiful quilt, Denise! I love this pattern you created! Great job. And I do love those fabrics!! Thanks for sharing.
Thank you Brenda.
Great design, Denise! Nice quilting, too. I hear you on that “dot to dot” quilting. My straight lines are always wonky, too. Have a great day!
You too, thank you Jennifer.
Nice pattern and cute helper.
Thank you, he loves being in the middle of everything.
First time visitor to your site – loved it! Especially loved seeing Loki. We had 2 yorkie sisters for many years and we both still miss them like crazy, ever several dogs later. Loki looks like our smaller yorkie, Bailey. She had every health condition possible for yorkies, but we did everything possible to make her life better and those two pups made our life wonderful. Anyhow, beautiful fabrics, and I’ll be returning back to your site on a regular basis now! Best wishes to you from sunny (and HOT) Northern California…..Deb E
Well thank you so much, I am glad you found something that caught your eye. Oh Loki, his name suits him so well. Fortunately he has been healthy other than a digestive issue. I work from home and rarely go someplace that he cant. So, if he is left at home alone no matter the length of time, he stresses horribly and gets sick. Otherwise, no problem. My sister has Loki’s sister. She is bigger than him, ears stand, and has the straight hair. Loki is curly and I didn’t train the ears to stand, they’re too darned cute bouncing when he walks, lol. Thank you for stopping by.
Love your quilt as you know. Thanks for sharing on my weekly show and tell, Wednesday Wait Loss. That was so sweet of you!
