Whats under my foot
Tuesday I shared my IBA April finish, a Drunkard’s Path quilt, the most challenging finish I’ve made in quite some time.
In the late 1990’s I was scared away from all curved piecing by a DP quilt and here I am again. This time was different because I have more experience and better tools. For me the most important thing I used was starch and alot of it, next would be knowing it’s okay to make an oversized block and trim it down to size.
Many quilters have asked, “do I need to snip both curved pieces while making a Drunkard’s Path block? “. What is your opinion on that? For my test block I snipped both patches and was not happy with the way the block laid. I think snipping both pieces added too much stretch to the finished block.
On the second block I only snipped the background fabric and the results were much cleaner. See Drunkard’s Path Variation with Island Batik.
