Runner Up Blog Hop

Runner Up Blog Hop hosted by Island Batik is in it’s second week. The fabric I received is Jubilee, it is a fun fabric full of eagles, fireworks, poppies, and stars. Like all Island Batik fabric collections you will find a mix of color values in Jubilee, so watch for those FQ bundles, 10″ Stacks and 2 1/2″ strip packs and avoid hunting for matching fabric. I’ll revisit this collection for a 4th of July project.

Products featured in this post were provided to me free of charge. As an Island Batik Ambassador I receive two shipments a year filled with beautiful Island Batik fabric. Included in these shipments are products from industry partners Hobbs Batting, Schmetz Needles, Deb Tucker Studio 180 Designs, Aurifil Thread, Oliso Irons, Funky Friends Factory, ByAnnie, and AccuQuilt.

Isn’t it gorgous? I really love the eagle and star fabrics.

Deb Tucker Studio 180 Desings

Deb Tucker Studio 180 Designs offers many tools (rulers) on her web site, each one makes specific blocks. They allow you to accurately build blocks using multiple tools. You’ll also find both free and paid patterns there too.

For this finish I used 4 tools:

You can purchase, find tool information and instruction videos for each tool following the links above. The tools themselves come with clear instructions.

My blocks

The center of my table topper is the Jewel Box quilt block and it contains 13 or 14 fabrics. In all, my finish uses 19 of the 20 fabrics included in the Jubilee Collection.

The hst corners and center were made using the Tucker Trimmer tool. Then the Four Patch Square Up for the rest of the block.

Next, I added more 4 patch blocks for an inside border. The middle border is flying geese from Wing Clipper with a 2″ x 4″ rectangle on top. For the corners, they were made using the Corner Pop Tool.

Finally a 2″ border for a 36″ finish.

Industry Partners

Hobbs Batting

I LOVE Hobbs Heirloom Premium Wool Batting and I had a scrap piece large enough to quilt the piece.

Needle and Thread

For piecing (50 wt) and quilting (Fourty3) I use Aurifil Thread. My longarm is very picky about which thread I use. I have tried several brands and with Forty3 I have the least breakage, but I also love the sheen.

Aurifil threadm schmetz needkes

Another Favorite of mine is Schmetz Needles. Before becoming and Island Batik Ambassador I thought you could only use the same needle brand that came with your machine. I know, that is a newbie thing but when you are self taught… who knows there is such a thing called needled education?

Jubilee Finish

As usual I had a hard time getting a flat photo due to wind, The bumpy logs on the house don’t help much to flatten when the wind presses the quilt against them.

That’s okay though, I love the finish and I love Jubilee. Wouldn’t this collection make a great picnic quilt for your 4th of July picnics and watching the fireworks?

Fabric Finder

Thank you Island Batik and all Industry Partners, Box 1 is amazing.

Jubilee is shipping to shops this month and I’m sorry I don’t have a shop list yet that will stock it. You can find other current collections on the Island Batik Fabric Finder.

To find shops near you who stock IB fabric you can use their Store Locator.

They also have a blog where you can find the schedule for the hop, enter their weekly giveaway during blog hops, and meet the Ambassadors.

See what other IBA’s are up to
