Floral Fusion Sew Along-Block 10
Block 10 release and the official beginning of Floral Fusion, my newest sew along. At the end of the sew along you will have a colorful garden to enjoy throughout the year anywhere in your home.
The products featured in this post were provided to me free of charge. As an Island Batik Ambassador I receive two shipments a year filled with beautiful Island Batik fabric. Included in these shipments are products from industry partners Hobbs Batting, Schmetz Needles, Deb Tucker Studio 180 Designs, Aurifil Thread and new this year, Oliso Irons. I am a Missouri Star Quilt Co. Partner and earn a small commission if you make a purchase.
Block & Quilt info
Block 10 was released Thursday in my weekly linky party, Put your foot down. It remains the current download. In addition to the applique download today there is a block download. The block download gives dimensions of all block sizes you will need just in case you’d like to get ahead.
Floral Fusion includes 9 different block designs that make up our quilt, and 12 blank blocks that are used as fill.
The quilt has a total of 44 blocks in 3 sizes. If you choose to stick with the recommended block size you will have a 40″ x 40″ finished quilt. I have a few design ideas for the border floating around in my head.
To add more interest to your quilt, use 4″ x 4″ squares in multiple neutral shades to build all of your background blocks. This is a great way to use orphaned blocks as well, or what I call misfits.
There is no time frame for finishing your blocks, sew at your own leisure. Just remember to come back every Monday for the next block release and have fun. My finished quilt will be shared during the Island Batik blog hop on Sept. 4th.
Where to find the blocks
Each week I will write a post for the new block/s release and they will be found on my blog. For your convenience you will find individual post and download links from the main sew along page. To find the page hover over Sew Along in the top menu of any page, click on Floral Fusion Sew Along from the drop down to be taken to the page. Or simply click the logo in the right side bar.
Share your progress throughout the SAL in the linky party. You will find the linkup at the bottom of the Floral Fusion SAL page.
Block 10
Will you make a Sunflower, Daisy, or Black Eyed Susan for you Block 10? Or a rainbow of colors? Will you use a no sew fusible or Wonder Under for your applique shapes?
In case you missed it, the fabric I am using is from one of the newest Island Batik Collections. The collection is Daisy May and there are 20 fabrics in this collection.
I traced the patches onto the Wonder Under and rough cut them. Then fused onto the wrong side of fabric.
Once the edges of each patch were fused I used a blanket stitch on the edges. The flower centers are stitched using a satin stitch.
Download
Block 10 will be available to download free until Aug 25th, then will be available for a fee.
Clicking the links below will take you to Payhip for download. Checkout will tell you “Pay what you want”, leave it at $0 and download for free, but if you are enjoying the SAL, at any point you can make a donation.
Hope to see you Aug 26th for the next block release. Have fun!
Very cute, Denise!
Thank you Brenda!
