It’s all up to me
Products featured in this post were provided to me free of charge. As an Island Batik Ambassador I receive two shipments a year filled with beautiful Island Batik fabric. Included in these shipments are products from industry partners Hobbs Batting, Schmetz Needles, Deb Tucker Studio 180 Designs, Aurifil Thread and new this year, Oliso Irons.
This month’s Island Batik Challenge was a free month, we could make anything we wanted.
On Thanksgiving my great niece was playing with my digitizing software and drew a snail. I told her whatever she drew I would add to something for her.
My first attempt went well until the hair she added stitched out.

The first bag was finished but I was not happy with it at all so I started again.
This time I stitched the quilting on the bag using my Elna using Aurifil 40wt and Schmetz Needles . ByAnnie Soft and Stable was perfect for the bag.

After the quilting and the snail was stitched I folded the main body piece in half and stitched the seams. Then cut a 1″square on both bottom corners to square off the bottom.

The two fabrics I used for the bag were scraps of Island Batik fabric from previous challenges. I really love this pink, I think it is Carnation– a foundation that is available throughout the year. The iron Oliso sent as an industry partner is a TG1600 Pro+ Smart Iron and is great for pressing those wadded fabrics.

Miss Ella loved her bag.
