Whats under my foot

Welcome back to another Put your foot down, I so appreciate you coming back each week to share your projects.

Yesterday I shared my flimsy for the Something Smells Fishy blog hop hosted by Just Let Me Quilt. The fishy part really had me all over the place in my design process. I found as many fish blocks as I could but decided I needed something more original.

Isn’t that cute? I found as many of these cute and quirky designs as I could on Creative Fabrica, then narrowed down my selection to just 16 designs. Next, I drew up t-shirt blocks to make a fisherman’s t-shirt quilt. See more close-ups of the designs here and grab your free t-shirt patchwork block download, it’s only free thru the end of the month.

The block possibilities are endless. After finishing the top I wish I’d added bias tape on the collar and sleeves to match the border blocks. You could embellish the crap out of these shirt.

The border blocks are Summertime (and they are gorgeous), Island Batik fabrics that Missouri Star Quilt Co sent to me for free. I think the fq bundle is something they bundled since I couldn’t find it elsewhere. If you use my partner link (https://glnk.io/mzmmj/aquiltery) you could save 20% off your purchase of $50 or more and I will earn a small commission.

One of my new machines, this featherweight was a gift. Other than needing a good cleaning and lube job it works. Loki was curious, I’m sure he was thinking I’d gotten something for him since it is his size. I also picked up a Brother NQ1700E from Sewing Machines Plus live auction for a steal.

With the addition of the new Brother I needed more table space. At our previous house I used the door off of my office for a table in my sewing room and I loved the size. So, I picked up a door from my sister for free and found it was the addition I have been looking for since Aug 2023 when we moved in. Used doors are pretty easy to find and most are 36″ x 84″ which givens plenty of room for cutting or ironing bolts. They also hold a couple of machines.

  1. I like the addition of the bias tape at the necklines. Congrats on your new machines, and also for finding that missing piece to your room (the door desk).

    • I’m not sure how I managed 2 new machines, let the fun begin. The t-shirt blocks were fun to make and they allowed me to try something I’d never done(bias collars). I think they would also be cute with childrens applique designs. Thank you for always linking up.
