Whats under my foot
I put finishing up the Shanty on hold for the moment and ventured into the darkest corner of the house. In my room there are two doors, one on each knee wall that leads into the rest of the attic. When we moved in we filled the front cubby with storage items. The cubby on the rear of the house remained untouched because it was downright funky in there.
The area had been completely covered in some kind of shiny barrier, it was the space where the wildlife had been coming in and living, and well I just didn’t go in there. Aside from vacuuming the feces the area remained sealed up.

Well, I peaked in and noticed one of the boards hanging from the ceiling about to collapse which meant it was time. Sunday hubby and me climbed in, removed all the aluminum paper, repaired the plywood hanging down, attacked the space with the shop vac, added a few more screws here and there, and sprayed a bleach mixture on every square inch of wood. The space can now be used for storage and the smell that seeped into the Shanty on humid days is gone. Oh, and I did play a little on the embroidery machine.

Check out this lovely full of green goodness from Crats, Cavies, and Cooking. The white chain looks like lace at first glance.
Visit Viridian’s Blog to read about Hamilton Gardens. It is so pretty and reminds me of a vintage quilt.
