Did you know that green has nothing to do with St Patrick since he is shown in images wearing blue. The Irish chose the color green as a sign of rebellion to the English Crown. They would wear green shamrocks and ribbons, or a green feather in their hats.
Put your foot down 235, a weekly linky party every Thursday. Stop by and share your WIP’s, UFO’s, finishes, or any fiber arts projects.
Welcome to round 1 of the Saint Paddy SAL. If you are Irish (or not) you know…
May’s Island Batik challenge is a blog hop, so be sure to follow along for fabric and goodies giveaways. For months I’ve been debating on a design and have finally settled on one earlier this week. The collection IB sent to me for the hop is The Grove, a beautiful collection of greens and teals reminiscent of the Emerald Isle.
This month Island Batik teamed up with Funky Friends Factory to challenge the Island Batik Ambassadors. We were allowed to choose a pattern for the softie and I chose Crocodile Steve. This has been both fun and challenging. Challenging because there are a lot of curved pieces in this pattern and fun because it brought back happy times of my son growing up while stitching.
This week I have been working on a secret sewing project for Jennifer’s (Inquiriing Quilter) upcoming fabric collection with Island Batik. No sharing yet, but I think sometime at the end of April you may start seeing sneak peeks. It is definitely one collection of fabric that online swatches do no justice.
Work continues in my sewing room. Saturday I started tearing things apart and moving everything around and had a pretty good mess. I was moving my AQ dies to their new home and bent over to pick them up and busted my head open on the corner of an Ikea cube. Sunday and Monday I pretty much did nothing but nurse a head ache. The organization should be completed for next week’s Put your foot down.
Today is my day to share in the Give It A Whirl block hop hosted by Carol from Just Let Me Quilt. Carol hosts some of the best blog hops every year including my favorite, Virtual Cookie Exchange. Thank you Carol for all you do and another great hop.
Over the weekend I finished my Island Batik March Challenge, with the help of Loki. Of course he couldn’t stay off of the quilt while I was adding the binding. It is also my finish for the Give it a Whirl blog hop hosted by Carol at Just Let Me Quilt.
