Put your foot down 284 is a weekly linky party every Thursday. Stop by and share your WIP’s, UFO’s, finishes, or any fiber arts projects. Thank you all for returning each week and sharing your projects.

Whats under my foot
The work continues on my Irish Chain quilt for May, I love how quickly they went together being cut with the AccuQuilt Irish Chain die. Island Batik by Lumin Fabric Serenity is so calming to work with that I’m in no hurry to finish this project.

My digitizing is getting a little better but I still consider myself a newbie. I digitized this in the hoop flower (that if it were yellow would be a great sunflower block) for alternating blocks, though I wish now I’d added one of the green fabrics for the center. When I placed the fabric for the flower petals I added a scrap piece of Hobbs Wool Batting before stitching it down with Aurifil 40wt cotton thread. You can’t really see the fluff in the photo below, and my stitching flattened it pretty good, but I am happy with the amount of puffiness it did leave.

Very pretty fabrics and you’re even keeping the backing fabric design going the same direction! Happy stitching!
I could have kept all of it going vertical or all horizontal if I’d thought about before cutting it with the die. But I think I like the way it is turning out.
Good idea to add some wool batting beneath the leaves of your appliqué, Denise! All that dense stitching in the middle is so cute! That’s all done on your embroidery machine?
Yes the center is a fill stitch from the digitizing software as is the blanket stitch. The flower itself and the detail stitch inside the leaves, as well as the circle I manually digitized. There are multiple fill designs to choose from in the software. The entire flower was done in the hoop.
Such lovely fabrics you are using in the Irish Chain, Denise and gorgeous applique. Thank you so much for featuring my quilt this week. You made my day. Have a fabulous weekend and Happy quilting.
It was a pleasure to do so, thank you for linking up.
Hi Denise, I’m looking forward to seeing your May quilt. So far, so good!
Thank you Andrée, I hope I meet the challenge.
