Prisms blog hop
Welcome to my stop in the Prisms Blog Hop hosted by Claudia of Create with Claudia. The hop is in celebration of Claudia’s first signature line, Prisms designed by Kathy Engle from Island Batik. Thank you Claudia for providing the opportunity to work with such beautiful fabric.
Prisms is a 20 fabric collection featuring dots, swirls and lovely flowers. Everyone who has seen them in my sewing room while I worked on the quilt had to pet the fabric and shared their love for it. Whether you are choosing multiple sku’s from this collection or just a couple you will have a beautiful quilt in the end. The fabric is available in pre-cuts and yardage.
For my quilt I chose just 2 sku’s, one light and one dark, 122361823-122359470. My background fabric is Ivory from the Island Batik Foundation Collection which is available throughout the year. Aren’t they pretty?
The Quilt and products
I think I am going to call this design Tip Toe Through the Pines. The blocks consist of squares and half square triangles, and are really quick to put together. Of course I couldn’t resist adding flying geese since I already had my Deb Tucker Studio 180 Designs Wing Clipper 1 on the table from the IBA June Challenge. The Wing Clipper allows you to make geese in various sizes, the hardest part was figuring out the size geese units I needed to go evenly around the quilt.
For quilting I chose Heirloom® Premium Cotton and quilted diagonal lines throughout the center with feathers on the inside border. The geese units, I just wanted those darned springy things to lay flat. Other products used are Aurifil Forty3, Schmetz Needles and Oliso Smart Iron.
Aren’t the colors gorgeous?
