Shades of Gray Quilt Block Tour Week 25- Stitch & Bloom

Welcome to week 25 in the Shades of Gray Quilt Block Tour.

The Shades of Gray Quilt Block Tour is a year long sew along of sorts. Every week for 50 weeks 30 different designers will release a free 6″ finished quilt block. Some of the blocks are applique, some are patchwork, all are fun. You can collect the blocks you like or collect all of them and share your progress in the Facebook Group. For a full list of designers, the blocks to date, and sponsors visit the official Shades of Gray Tour page.

What do the blocks have in common? The blocks should be mostly shades of gray and can include a pop of color. This sounds really interesting to me because you could make the entire quilt shades of gray and choose a limited number of blocks to to add a pop of color, the possibilities are endless.

Stitch & Bloom

Stitch & Bloom is a series of free floral quilt blocks that I’ve created, one block at a time. The blocks are released as time allows with no specific number of blocks promised. If you like floral applique sign up for my newsletter so you wont miss any of the blocks. The Tulip is Block 3 in the series. Combine the flowers with a larger patchwork block for its background, fuse them to a solid background or use them on a pillow. See Block 1 here.

Tulips are one of the early signs that spring has arrived. For this block-use a no sew fusible or finish the edge using your favorite decorative stitch. The shapes are designed to be used on a 6″ finished block, and I’ve included large and small templates. For a stand alone block use the large templates, to embellish another quilt block use the small version.
