Stitch & Bloom Block 1

The wait for Stitch & Bloom B1 is over, the first download in a series of fusible applique floral blocks is now available. The blocks will finish at 6″, or larger-just cut your background fabric to your desired size and applique the shapes. Use them for pillows, bags, quilts, wall hangings, or pillows. Eventually I will release the blocks for ITH embroidery, time allowing.

Info

Stitch & Bloom is not your typical sew along. Blocks will be released as free designs with no set schedule and will always be available. That means, if 6 months from now you decide “hey, I want to make these” or ” I really like that block” , they will be available for free. Please leave a rating at checkout for my free blocks.

Instructions

  • For all blocks I recommend that you trace the shapes, or at least the vines onto your background fabric. Once you have done that, stitch the vines on your domestic machine. It is helpful to add stabilizer or starch your background fabric well prior to stitching.
  • Reverse leaves and flower head when tracing onto fusible.
  • Follow manufacturer’s directions for fusing your shapes. Depending on the fusible you use you may be required to stitch the shapes down.

For my sample block I used green variegated thread for the stem and leaves, and orange variegated for the rose. For my fusible I used Wonder Under.
