Today is the day where you will download instructions for what will become your foundation (background) for all of the appliques to come. Don’t worry, you aren’t expected to have all of this pieced before the next download. In fact you wont need the hexi blocks until December so take your time and sew them at your leisure until then.

In the diagrams below the black patches represent your brightly colored fabric, while the gray and white are your background fabric/s.

Decide if you will paper piece the hexi blocks or use the provided patchwork templates to cut and piece these blocks, pages are clearly marked for both methods. Please do not use the patchwork templates to cut your fabric if you are paper piecing the hexi blocks. Patchwork templates are provided for your convenience.

Have you decided if you’ll use one or two fabrics for your background, now would be the time. You will need 15 blocks for your applique foundations. Even if you don’t complete all of the hexi blocks right away, you should really complete the foundations.
